Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.
Many people believe there is no specific time when human life begins; it depends on your definition of human. In the United States, a baby becomes an individual citizen with all of the rights and privileges thereof, upon birth. This is also true in most countries.
Most people who are pro-choice believe that a woman should be able to choose whether or not to give birth. Their arguments include: A woman should not have to bear a child if she does not want to; the fetus may be defective or have life-threatening health issues for the pregnant mother. In any case, feticide can be considered as a way out whenever a pregnant woman feels like it.
Why Is Abortion Such a Hot Topic In The U.S.?
There are many reasons why halting pregnancies is a big topic in the United States. The US abortion rate is among the highest in the world. Women have abortions at an average rate of 20-22 per 1,000 women of childbearing age, and the numbers are significantly higher among poor and unmarried women. Abortion is legal in all 50 states and abortion clinics are found in every corner of the country. However, many women face obstacles in accessing safe abortion services.
The US ways of life have become a standard that many people are following all over the world. The ripple effects of the legalization of abortion in all the States of the country are being felt in several countries of the world.
In many cases, popular influencers and celebrities support the termination of pregnancy for whatever reason. Many of them don’t even care whether God exists. They don’t want to know what does the Bible say about abortion. They have succeeded in influencing the mindset of their followers along this line.
Christianity and Abortion – What Does the Bible Say About Abortion?
A pregnant woman who wishes to get an abortion has a variety of questions to answer before she can make up her mind. What is the unborn, anyway? Is it a person? If so, when does its life begin? When does a new human being come into being, if not at conception? Is abortion a sin?
The answer to these questions is essential in determining if abortion should be permitted or not. After all, if the unborn is essentially just another human life form and not deserving of protection, then why bother with all the moral angst over abortion? and why is abortion a sin? So how do we determine when human life begins?
Abortion is the deliberate ending of human life, and therefore an act of murder. For Christians, the question of when life begins is a straightforward one. The Bible tells us that human life begins at birth. “As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so, thou knowest not the works of God.” Ecclesiastes 11:5
Here the Bible refers to the fetus as a “child,” meaning that it has the same status as a one that had been born.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:1
This is God saying categorically that He recognizes an unborn child as a living entity and that He takes interest in it to the point of preparing it for future assignments.
If God says a fetus is a living being who He reckons with who are we to say otherwise.
The Christian religion has a strong stance on the termination of pregnancies. Human life begins at conception, and thus, it is wrong to kill an unborn child.
Furthermore, the Bible states that God gave Adam life in the beginning, and God created humans in his image. So if humans are God’s creations, then God must be aware of humans at their conception. If God knows humans from conception, it stands to reason that God knows humans throughout their lifetime, even if they are not aware of it.
There are some Christians who have accepted feticide because they lack understanding of the word of God asking, is abortion a sin? But the Bible opposes it.

Is abortion a sin? The answer is yes. It means God will treat it as He would do any other sins we commit.
The wages of sin is death. All sinners have been judged already. They will have their portion in the eternal fire of hell where there is everlasting weeping and gnashing of teeth.
The way out is to repent of your sins. Stop justifying yourself in doing what is contrary to the will of God. Stop listening to people who claim that there is nothing wrong with terminating pregnancies. They are not God. They will not determine your fate at the end of your sojourning here on earth.
Whatever you do on earth you alone will suffer the consequence, for you will give an account of your life to God your creator. Listen to Him and do what He says otherwise you will have yourself to blame.
Abortion Is Justified in Some Cases?
That is what some people are saying. If terminating pregnancies is a sin, how can it be justified at the same time? Whatever reason anyone may give to make feticide right does not hold water before God.
If we are all obedient to the words of God there will not be an issue that will make anyone consider terminating a pregnancy in the first place.
God said, “None shall cast their young nor be barren in thy land.” Exodus 23:26-28 We should understand that all life comes from Him.
God cannot give a defective baby. Such babies can only come when we are not walking right with God. Likewise, all other reasons are fall out of the sinfulness of man. In the beginning, it was not so.
Whatever is the case, it is not the baby we need to get rid of, but the sin which has opened the door for the problems we are having.
Making Abortion Illegal Will Not Stop It From Happening
Indeed, making abortion illegal is not the solution. Legalizing it has worsened the problem.
Now things have gone out of control. Many people’s hands are soiled with the blood of innocent children who they have killed in the name of abortion.
To be honest, this is one of the problems that no human laws or ability can solve. The solution is to see it as God is seeing it. Is abortion a sin? Yes, it is. It is murder.
“Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity.” Romans 1:28-29
That is the situation of things in our world today. We have neglected the Lord. We have moved away from the light, hence darkness has taken over.
We should endeavor to keep the word of God in our hearts. It will keep us away from sin. It will help us to overcome all the attacks of the devil.
If you are still asking the question, is abortion a sin? Know that it is. That is what God had said. If you are planning to do it know that what you are planning is premeditated murder. God will not take that lightly.
If you have terminated a pregnancy before. You are guilty of murder before God, though man may justify you for doing that.
You need to repent of your sin and receive forgiveness so that you will not be punished. Remember, the punishment is eternal condemnation in hell. You have the opportunity to escape the judgment of hell now by accepting Jesus into your life.
God is not only angry with those who have terminated pregnancies, He is also angry with everyone that has helped and encouraged them.
You may not be involved directly, but remember what the Bible says, “Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same but have pleasure in them that do them.” Romans 1:32 KJV
Part of that sin is abortion. A sin that is nothing but murder.
